The Harrington Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is a unique group of people whose interests, talents and experiences (for the last 72 years!) have assisted in making Harrington Memorial Hospital an important part of our community.
Our goal is to interest you in volunteering your time and service to HMH. You’ll find many fulfilling opportunities to apply your skills, talents, experience or hobbies to the variable needs of our daily hospital routine. We strive to provide opportunities to support the best personalized patient care possible and improve healthcare throughout our community service area.
We are involved in many fundraising projects. Through the Auxiliary and Volunteer Department we run a wonderful gift shop located off the hospital lobby. This is the largest fundraiser for the Auxiliary. Check our hospital website for Gift Shop hours All proceeds go to the Auxiliary. These funds are used to support free community health programs as well as augment hospital department needs.
We have an Appropriation Committee that distributes approximately $35,000.00 yearly. They support our Hospice Program with literature for families and material for Volunteers to make hospice gowns for each and every hospice patient. We purchased the children’s car seats for the Car Seat Safety Program. These are only two of many programs which the Auxiliary funds.
We give $12, 000.00 yearly in scholarships to local high school students who are seeking a medical career.
On Sunday April 24, 2005 our annual Duck Race will be going into our 14th year. $15,000.00 was earned to support our many hospital programs. It is a wonderful family day of games and racing Ducks down the river. Don’t miss it!
Our quarterly membership meetings held in local restaurants include an entertaining program, an opportunity to socialize with great people while enjoying good food. Please call our Volunteer Department at 508-765-9771 ext. 2747 for more information.
Our fundraisers have included an Irish Night on St. Patrick’s Day to support our Pediatrics Department for a special wagon with an IV pole for patients. A Wine Taster at QVACH supported our Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. We raised money to allow patients to participate in the Cardiac Rehab program held at the YMCA.
Our annual March Treasures and Trash Flea Market at Notre Dame Church has grown by leaps and bounds. We accept donations throughout the year. Please contact the Volunteer Department at the number listed above.
