| Job Description | Responsible for the evaluation, planning, directing and administering of physical therapy modalities of treatment. Administers treatments and physical agents in an effort ot restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The staff therapist coordinates, delegates and supervises responsibilities assigned to supportive staff (PTA, PT Aide). The staff therapist participates in operational aspects of the department and participates in performance improvement activities. Provides input in formulating budget, assists in evaluating department performance and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs. Physical therapists at HMH may treat patients who are hospital acute care in-patients, out-patients, and/or home care patients. |
| Experience/ Requirements | One year experience and/or student affiliations in acute in-patient, out-patient and/or home care. Current license to practice physical therapy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, graduate from a professional physical therapist education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). |
