Job Description

The Staff Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as supervised by the staff physical therapist (PT). The PTA administers treatments and physical agents as directed by the staff physical therapist, after the physical therapist has evaluated the patient. The PTA assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. The PTA assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The PTA participates in operational aspects of the department, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in CQI activities. The PTA participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.

Experience/ Requirements

One year experience and/or student affiliations in acute in-patient, out-patient and/or home care. Graduate from a professional physical therapist assistant education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) with a current license to practice as a physical therapist assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
