Marsha A. Lavoie Marsha A. Lavoie, M.D., M.S. will be joining the Medical Staff of Harrington Memorial Hospital. Her education includes the UMass Family Practice Residency Program, the University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco, where she earned her M.D., the University of California, Berkeley, Health and Medical Sciences Program, from which she holds an M.S. degree and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she studied Urban Studies.

Dr. Lavoie is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians. Her License and Certification includes the American Board of Family Practice, BLS certification, and Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics.

Dr. Lavoie is a native of Salem, NH, but has a connection to Southbridge by way of her paternal grandfather's birth and early childhood here in Southbridge. She currently resides in Woodstock, CT with her husband Jonathan Logee and their thirteen year old daughter Amanda who is a student at Woodstock Academy. She has two sons, Jonathan Hardy-Lavoie, of Worcester, who is enrolled in Quinsigamond Community College as an Elementary Education major, and Philip Hardy-Lavoie, of Sturbridge, who is a senior at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, majoring in Fine and Performing Arts with a theatre concentration.

Dr. Lavoie's hobbies and personal interests include crocheting, playing the guitar, attending theatre and camping with her family. She will be located in the Harrington Family Health Center, 94 South Street, Southbridge MA and can be reached at: 508-764-3194

Dr Foster Harrington Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Paul G. Foster, M.D. has joined the medical staff. Dr. Foster was previously in private practice in Wellesley, MA. A graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Foster completed his post graduate training at Newton Wellesley Hospital and Mass General Hospital. He had obtained his BA degree from Amherst College.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Foster has worked extensively schools, as Head Physician for Wellesley Public Schools and for the health service of Wellesley College. Dr. Foster is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the Massachusetts Medical Society. He is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Foster has served as a trustee of Deaconess-Nashoba Hospital and served on the Strategic Planning committee.

He will be located at the Harrington Family Health Center in Brimfield, part of the Brimfield Health Center. Appointments can be made at 413-245-3389.

Summer Charles A Sommer, M.D. was educated at the University of Connecticut, School of Medicine, and completed an internship at Boston University. His residency was at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Dr. Sommer earned his undergraduate degree from M.I.T. He has served as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the UMass Medical School.

Dr. Sommer will be working with Dr. Joseph A. Veneziano, M.D. who is an established orthopedic surgeon at Harrington. These two physicians will be working closely together to provide care for Harrington patients. They will be located in the Medical Arts Building on the Harrington campus at 100 South Street in Southbridge, MA. Their office can be reached at 508-764-2772.

Dr. Sommer has previously worked at the Mercy Medical Center and Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He is a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
