Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard Receives New X-Ray Room

State-of-the-art equipment enhances patient care

(WEBSTER, Mass., AUG. 28, 2009) - Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard continues to make improvements to its campus, including a new X-Ray room featuring the state-of-the-art Shimadzu RADspeed Radiologic System that was installed in the Radiology Department earlier this month.

The RADspeed is a totally integrated X-Ray system, designed to perform to the highest standards of testing. The RADspeed has several impressive design features, including an impact-resistant table and a rapid communications system. The unit is designed to be smooth, quiet and precise.

"We are continuing to enhance the Webster campus to provide the most advanced patient care services possible," said Administrator Tom Hijeck. "The new X-Ray room is a key component of the Radiology Department and we are proud to offer the community this upgraded service."

The new room is just one of many changes being made to Diagnostic Imaging. Director of Radiology Kathy Franco-Anthony noted that since May, the department has added a new ultrasound unit, digital mammography, upgraded nuclear medicine unit, transitioned to Infinitt PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and digital modalities, and made other changes.

The Webster campus is undergoing several renovation projects, including developing a new and expanded physician office space and a more efficient emergency room.

The RADspeed gives the Hubbard campus two fully functioning X-Ray rooms, making patient turnover faster and wait times shorter.

Those who walk through the space are instantly impressed by the precise match of the freshly painted walls to the new unit. The Radiology Department jokes, "We didn't even know what color the machine was when we painted the walls."

Shimadzu was voted Best Digital XRay vendor of 2009 by independent healthcare market research firm KLAS.
