Cancer Care Center
Long before the The Cancer Center at Harrington opened on Harrington's campus, we were providing comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer services to adult patients.
Yet the 2009 grand opening of Harrington's $14 million cancer care center nonetheless marked a milestone for advanced medical services in the region. Patients can now receive world-class care close to home, without having to travel to Worcester, Boston or Springfield.
Now our services have expanded as we continue to invest in the latest technologies.
The cancer care center at Harrington features a Resource Room, with computer access, to allow patients and their families to research cancer and cancer treatments. The room is staffed by volunteers from the American Cancer Society and the hospital Auxiliary.
We are also proud to announce our new Lymphedema Therapy program. Harrington HealthCare Occupational Therapist Audrey Aho, OTR/L recently became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) and has been seeing patients from across the region, as well as Northeastern Connecticut .
As The Cancer Center at Harrington continues to expand its offerings, we are alternative therapy and a boutique where patients can purchase scarves and wigs.
The Cancer Center at Harrington is jointly operated by the not-for-profit Harrington Hospital and the for-profit corporation Radiation Therapy Services, Inc. We broke ground in September 2008, and completed construction an unprecedented 16 months later.
