Nephrology

Highly trained Nephrologists on our Harrington campus care for people of all ages, providing inpatient and outpatient services for a broad range of kidney and hypertension problems.

We begin by evaluating every patient based on his or her history and individual medical conditions. Then, working with Harrington's Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments (link to both), we perform tests through urinalysis, ultrasound and other scans, and renal biopsies, as needed, to diagnosis each condition. At this stage, we meet with patients to discuss their conditions, which range from acute and chronic kidney disease, renal failure, hypertension, kidney stones, anemia, kidney cancer, and urinary tract infections.

State-of-the art therapies and management programs include dialysis (in-center and home); 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring; in-office portable ultrasound; specific renal medication regimens; and anemia and hypertension management. We provide follow-up monitoring of all conditions related to the kidneys, and if necessary, we refer patients to UMass for surgical transplants. Overall, we apply a multidisciplinary approach that involves consultation with other medical specialists and coordination with your primary care physicians.

We also stress lifestyle changes and work to prevent the recurrence and delay the progression of chronic kidney disease.
