Specialized and personalized care in a private setting. Harrington’s Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery physicians, trained in medical and surgical management of urogynecologic and pelvic floor disorders, provide state-of-the art and highly customized care for women of all ages.
Using a consultative approach, our physicians involve patients throughout their care, from initial consultation and evaluation, to diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, if needed. In many instances, women treated previously for bladder problems see us after finding no relief from medications and feeling very frustrated.
Following consultation, patients may receive Urodynamic testing, a real-time evaluation of a woman’s bladder performed in our offices or the hospital’s Women’s Center . This testing allows us to pinpoint diagnoses, including:
- Urinary incontinence (stress, urge, or mixed)
- Overactive bladder (with or without incontinence)
- Prolapse (bladder, uterine, vaginal, or rectal prolapse)
- Pelvic pain (interstitial cystitis)
After diagnosis, we further consult with patients before proceeding with a treatment plan, which often includes a period of physical therapy, which includes exercise and biofeedback. Other therapies range from conservative management to tension-free vaginal tapes (sling procedures), bladder lifts, and hysterectomy.
Patients requiring advanced treatment may also be candidates for our state-of-the-art, minimally invasive procedures, including pelvic reconstructive surgery, vaginal prolapse surgery using surgical mesh, or InterStim implants (bladder pacemaker). Following surgery, patients typically recover quickly, experiencing minimal pain, high success, and low recurrence rates.
Referrals from your primary care physician are often necessary.
