Social Service & Care Management

Support. Counseling. Advocacy. Social Service & Care Management at Harrington is here to help. We offer a wide range of services to assist patients and families as well as community members—and no one will be turned away due to financial constraints.

Our social workers and nurses, working with Harrington’s rehabilitation and nutrition professionals as needed, provide individualized services including:

  • Care management.
  • Support and counseling to inpatients and family members, including crisis intervention and grief counseling.
  • Pre-operative assessments, post-operative preparation, and continuity of care arrangements following discharge.
  • Educating patients and family members regarding treatment, reducing anxiety.
  • Referrals to GB Wells for psychological, emotional, or behavioral issues.
  • Information and referral for dementia care, domestic abuse, homelessness, substance abuse, elder insurance, financial assistance, etc. For specific information, visit our web site.

As part of our services to patients and families, during adult medical emergencies we provide crisis intervention and grief counseling in our Emergency Care Center.

People in need may also be eligible for financial assistance and attend support groups related to Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer, and emergency assistance (supported by Harrington’s Auxiliary and other community groups). Dementia care respite is coordinated for the Alzheimer’s Support Network.
