Patient Registration at the Harrington Memorial Hospital

Patients and visitors find it frustrating to wait under stressful conditions and often ask us the reason for the delay. In order to provide the best care, it may be necessary to:

Verify insurance information or authorization, contact departmentst to ensure they have registered, contact your physicians to verify information.

It is difficult to coordinate all of this in a busy health care environment and we will do our best to provide rapid and supportive service.

We encourage suggestions and comments regarding your care, including any problems you encountered which we should know about.

You may also receive a phone call or letter asking you to participate in a patient satisfaction survey. These surveys are important to us and we encourage your feedback. Your responses can help us improve our service to the community.

Clinical Departments:

Many outpatients need to go to the laboratory, heart station, respiratory services or the X-ray (radiology) department. These departments are conveniently located on the first floor of the hospital. As you leave the registration area in the front lobby you can either use the stairway or the elevators. Signs on the first floor will direct you to the reception areas of those departments.

When you reach your destination department, please make sure the receptionist knows that you have arrived.

Feel free to ask at the registration desk if you need directions or assistance. The Volunteers located near the registration area can also help you. We realize that hospitals can be confusing, especially on a first visit and we will be glad to help in any way that we can.

Visitors are welcome to stop by and use the café for beverages, snacks or meals.

Cafeteria is open all day for beverages and light snacks from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Please remember NOT to use this service if you have been asked to fast before a medical test.

The cafeteria is located on the mezzanine near the main lobby of the hospital and the elevators. The hours for the cafeteria are as follows:

Weekdays7:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
 11:15 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
 4:45 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.
 
Weekends8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
 4:45 p.m.- 7:00 p.m.

We realize the trip to Harrington Memorial Hospital can be stressful for patients and loved ones.

We, the staff, wish to do everything possible to make your visit as pleasant and as comfortable as is possible.

In allowing us to serve your healthcare needs. Registration of all patients is required to insure that your medical record is accurate and that your doctor and insurance company can be informed.

If you are coming into the hospital for medical tests and you have an appointment, please let us know that right away. In most cases we will have been able to prepare for your visit and will simply need to verify your information. It is helpful if you confirm your appointment with us on the day before your visit.

Registration Procedures:
If you need diagnostic testing as soon as possible:
Come directly to the Hospital Registration Office.
If you are having Diagnostic Test in the future:
Bring your doctor's orders to the Registration Office a few days prior to your appointment.
If you have Standing Orders or are already listed in the Book of regulars visitors:
Call a day or more before you plan to come in.

You may go directly to the department where your appointment has been scheduled.
If none of the above conditions meet your requirements:
Bring your doctor's orders to the Registration Office at your earliest convenience.
