More Volunteer Opportunities

Transport Services Assist our Transportation Staff with transporting patients to all areas of the hospital and with patient discharges. Deliver specimens to laboratory areas and assist with delivery of patient care equipment and surgical supplies to nursing care units. Available seven days a week.

teen Teenagers We enjoy having teenagers volunteer and will work with your busy schedule to find something that fits for you. Teenagers must be 14 years of age or older to volunteer at the hospital.


Dietary Department help to maintain the cafeteria area and support the dietary staff on all levels.

Sewing Machine
Silver Knitters/Sewing and Crafters Committees These wonderful groups provide all new babies born at Harrington with a lovely new blanket and hat. They also make sweater sets, puppets and bags to hang on "walkers" for patients. We provide the supplies and many of the projects can be done at home by a volunteer.
Environmental Services help keep our hospital environment clean and beautiful.


Pastoral Outreach Volunteers provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff in the complexities that arise from hospitalization, health care decision making, treatment, illness, trauma, and death. In the Chapel we assist local clergy with chapel services and/or communion.

Occupational & Physical Therapy Volunteers assist occupational director with specialized treatment program needs. You work with therapists applying hot and cold packs, stocking shelves and giving general assistance.

Quality Assurance Reviewers as part of a team, contact patients who have had emergency room treatment to solicit their opinion as to the quality of HMH care.

Children's Tour Volunteers assist with children's tours, which are given twice a month to help children feel comfortable in a hospital setting. Tours are scheduled during the school year.

Internships in Volunteer Services are for students who would like to do an internship and who are majoring in Secondary Education, Non-profit Management, Social Services or Recreation or similar fields of study. We also have other internships in other disciplines; we will help create an internship that meets your interest and the Hospital's needs. This would be for one to two shifts per week for a total of 4 or more hours. We are flexible and work with your schedule.
