Genetic Counseling: The Future of Healthcare

Genetic counseling provides information and support for individuals with an inherited or genetic risk for cancer. The relatively new and up-and-coming trend in healthcare professions, genetic counseling provides the opportunity to explore family history, genetics, and other factors and how they play a role in the risk of cancer.

While complex and filled with research, this field can be beneficial to many individuals with an extensive family history of cancer, or pre-disposed conditions that could increase their risk of the disease.

Asma Rashid, MS, CGC is a licensed genetics counselor in Massachusetts and board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors.  Asma attended Mount Holyoke College for her undergraduate degree and then the University of Arizona for a master’s in Genetics.  She has specialized as a cancer genetic counselor for over 10 years.  Asma is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
