Important 5K Announcements –

We now have more than 700 participants registered for the 5K. This is four times the total participation for 2015. You have all helped us share the news, spread the word, and raise – to date – more than $20,000 toward the inpatient behavioral health unit in Webster. So many thank yous are in order!

Please Note: Due to overwhelming popularity, this event is now closed. We have reached our maximum registrations and can no longer not accept walk-ins on May 1. There will be no refunds issued for registrations purchased.  Thanks to all who have signed up and we look forward to seeing you on May 1!

The quick rise in participants has also caused us to take a closer look at the organization of this event, keeping in mind the safety of everyone who will be attending. With that in mind, here are a few critical announcements:


Westville Recreation Area is not designed to handle the volume of cars coming into the area for the event. We are arranging for buses to shuttle people into Westville from both our main hospital parking lot (100 South St., Southbridge) and the Savers Bank parking lot at the corner of Wallace Road and Route 131 in Sturbridge:


Both locations are less than 5 minutes from Westville. The buses will be in constant rotation from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

We ask that you please utilize the shuttles and do not try to park inside Westville.

Between volunteer traffic, Lucky Duck Day traffic and other vendors, the park will be full.

You can utilize Westville as a “drop off” location for family members and then park in the bus lots.


Due to liability, dogs are not allowed on the buses. If you are bringing your dog to the event, we suggest dropping off the pet with a friend or family member at Westville before returning to the main hospital or Savers Bank lot to grab transportation. As a reminder, dogs must be leashed at all times.

Strollers will be permitted on the buses, but we ask that you fold them down and keep them out of the aisles as much as possible.

The Sturbridge School Committee is doing us an enormous favor by offering us these buses to use for the day. We thank them for providing safe transportation for everyone during the event.


We will have an area to drop off bags and other personal belongings. While there will be volunteers stationed at the drop-off, we will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. We suggest you leave highly valuable items at home.

There are no fees to take the bus or utilize the bag drop-off area.


We will offer early check-in on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. This will save you lots of time on May 1 as you won’t have to wait in line.

Early check-in will take place inside our main hospital lobby in Southbridge.

Friday, April 29 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

T-shirts will be offered first-come, first-serve by size. We will have adult and youth sizes available.

Start Times

Due to the high volume of participants, we will have rolling start times for both runners and walkers. Each registered participant will receive a wristband upon early check-in or check-in on May 1. The wristbands will indicate what wave you will start.

We anticipate competitive runners beginning first, followed by “fun runners”, followed by 2-3 waves of walkers. Competitive runners should be ready to go by 11:50 a.m. Each wave will have 3-5 minutes between start times. We will work as efficiently as possible to get every wave started quickly. Please make every effort to adhere to your wristband color and wave and avoid congesting the trail.
