Harrington CEO to Chair Finance Committee of MHA

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., June 17, 2013 — Harrington HealthCare System President and Chief Executive Officer Edward H. Moore has been elected Chairman of the Standing Committee On Finance for the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA).

Moore, who is a Trustee-At-Large for the MHA, was elected to the Chairmanship at the MHA Annual Meeting in Chatham on June 13.

The Standing Committee On Finance is comprised of Chief Financial Officers and other senior financial officials at hospitals and healthcare systems throughout Massachusetts. The committee advises the full MHA Board on financial issues.

“It is a great honor to be chosen to lead the MHAs Standing Committee On Finance,” Moore said. “As Chair of this committee, I hope to be able to further the dialogue on such important issues for hospitals and healthcare systems as cost containment, payment reform and reimbursements.”

Moore has more than 30 years of experience in health care management. Before coming to Harrington in July 2007 as President and CEO, he was at MetroWest Medical Center, where he was Chief Operating Officer as well as the Administrator for the centers Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, Mass. Prior to that, he held executive positions at Eastern Connecticut Health Network in Manchester, Conn.; VHA Northeast in Braintree, Mass.; Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass.; Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, R.I.; and Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass. Moore received an MBA in Hospital Administration from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Management, cum laude, from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

The Massachusetts Hospital Association was founded in 1936, and its members include 78 licensed member hospitals, many of which are organized within 30 member health systems, as well as interested individuals and other healthcare stakeholders. As the primary representative of the hospital community in Massachusetts, the MHA plays a central role in influencing the public policy environment. Grounded in the principle that caring for people is the primary mission of its member hospitals and health systems, MHA seeks to promote responsible public policy, encourage public accountability, and foster an appropriate balance between those who provide and those who pay for healthcare services.
