SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., August 14, 2014 – The Mammography Department at Harrington HealthCare System has recently passed its annual inspection with the Department of Public Health (DPH).
The DPH was able to pass the Mammography Department with no deficiencies on both state and federal levels through this single inspection, which occurred on Friday, August 1st.
According to Harringtons Vice President of Ancillary Services, Kathy Anestis, the DPH inspector took notice of Mammographys “meticulous and very well organized” records, and was able to conclude her inspection earlier than was expected.
Mammography Department Supervisor, Nellie Dingui, added that the inspector admired the departments overall beauty and neatness in the Womens Center, commenting on the niceness of the patient dressing rooms, and the accessibility of pamphlets and patient rights resources.
“The inspector definitely got the impression that were working on this department year round, making sure that every piece of information is ready and available. They could tell we put a lot of effort into this department. If they say we were meticulous, that means we did a good job!” said Dingui.
The DPH gives annual inspections to Mammography Departments at each Harrington location, meaning three inspections total for Harrington Healthcare System throughout the year. Inspections first occur at Charlton, continue on to Webster, and conclude in Southbridge.
The news of the passed inspection comes in time for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Harrington Hospital will continue to celebrate the month through free mammograms, and various events at the Cancer Center in Southbridge.
