John Tumolo, M.D., Wins Total Local Care Award

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 19, 2013 – John Tumolo, M.D., a Cardiologist based in Southbridge, is the winner of this years TLC — Total Local Care — award.

Dr. Tumolo, who has practiced in Southbridge and been on the Harrington Medical Staff for nearly 30 years, was chosen for the Harrington TLC award because he embodies Harrington HealthCare Systems TLC values, such as being available, caring, collegial, cooperative, flexible and reliable. The TLC Award was inaugurated two years ago by Harrington HealthCare System. Last years winner was Dr. Paul Harrington, a Family Medicine physician. The inaugural winner was Dr. Paul Santolucito, a Cardiologist.

Each year, members of Harrington HealthCare Systems Medical Staff nominate those they believe best embody Harringtons TLC values. In order to be considered, each nomination must be accompanied by a narrative describing why the nominee is deserving of the award.

“I am very proud to be able to announce Dr. John Tumolo as this years TLC Award winner,” said Harrington HealthCare System President and CEO Ed Moore. “Dr. Tumolo is the embodiment of Harringtons TLC values.

“One nomination for Dr. Tumolo stated that he has been ‘an outstanding clinician and leader in the community for nearly 30 years. He always has a positive team spirit and an underlying work ethic, Moore said. “Dr. Tumolo was also described in a nomination as someone who ‘always goes above and beyond to care for his patients, spending extra time with me and my family, being flexible in the office to schedule convenient appointments on short notice, and providing top notch care for the community. He is the best! “

Dr. Tumolo is a board certified cardiologist who has been in private practice and on the Harrington Medical Staff since 1985. He serves as Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Center, Intensive Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training Program, and has served as Vice President of the Medical Staff and the Physician Hospital Organization, and Chairman of the Physician Advisory Executive Committee at Harrington. Dr. Tumolo is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
