Public Announcement Concerning a Proposed Health Care Project

SOUTHBRIDGE, MA – On November 30, 2020, UMass Memorial Health Care, Inc. (“Applicant”), located at One Biotech Park, 365 Planation Street, Worcester, Massachusetts 01605, intends to file on December 9, 2020 an application for a Notice of Determination of Need with the Department of Public Health with respect to a change in the corporate control of Harrington Memorial Hospital, Inc. (“HMH”) located at 100 South Street, Southbridge, Massachusetts 01550.  The Applicant intends to acquire control of HMH by becoming the sole corporate member of HMH’s parent organization, Harrington HealthCare System, Inc. (“Project”).  HMH is a nonprofit community hospital.  The total value of the Project based on net patient service revenue is $143,325,965.  The Applicant does not anticipate any price or service impacts on the Applicant’s existing patient panel as a result of the Project.  Any ten taxpayers of Massachusetts may register in connection with the intended Application by no later than December 30, 2020 or 30 days from the Filing Date, whichever is later, by contacting the Department of Public Health Determination of Need Program at Department of Public Health, Attention: Program Director, Determination of Need Program, 250 Washington Street, 4^th Floor, Boston, Massachusetts 02108 or DPH.DON@State.MA.US.
