Visiting Harrington

UMass Memorial Health – Harrington has implemented a new visitor policy:

  • Inpatient Medical Units – up to 2 visitors are allowed at a time (visiting hours are 10 am to 8 pm)
  • Outpatient Areas and Physician Services Offices – one visitor is allowed
  • Emergency Departments in Southbridge and Webster – one visitor is allowed
  • Visitors under the age of 18 may be permitted to visit under specific circumstances. Visitors under the age of 18, if permitted, must be accompanied by an adult. Visitors under the age of 14, when the patient is currently in the ICU, requires prior approval from the Nurse Manager.

Patient visitor requests for the behavioral health units will be accommodated where appropriate.

Our masking policy changed on May 11, 2023, to the following:

  • Masks will be optional and encouraged for patients and visitors.
  • UMass Memorial Health employees will need to wear a mask during patient encounters in our Emergency Departments and the Cancer Center at Harrington
  • Masks will be optional and encouraged in all other areas and patient interactions for employees.

We will continue to monitor the level of COVID-19 activity in our patient populations as well as with all employees at our hospitals, so that we can continue to adjust policies as needed. As always, our patient and employee safety and wellbeing remain our highest priorities.

Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation during the pandemic.
