Hospital Week Celebrates People

Dear Harrington Family,

A hospital is more than a place where people go to heal, it is a part of the community that fosters health and represents hope. From providing treatment and comfort to the sick, to welcoming new life into the world, hospitals are central to a healthy and optimistic community.

National Hospital Week (May 7–13), first and foremost, is a celebration of people. At Harrington, we are extremely proud of each member of our staff and volunteer. We recognize the important role you play in extending a sense of trust to our patients and our communities.

The recent announcement that Harrington has been awarded its 11th straight “A” for patient safety from Leapfrog is one of the strongest indications of our collective commitment to our patients and to the communities we serve.

The additional nod from the Worcester Telegram & Gazette as the organization with the Best Workplace Culture is further evidence of the patient-focused values, attitudes and behaviors that Harrington employees share and use on a daily basis in their work.

Finally, we were most recently recognized by the Center for Health Information and Analysis for having the lowest readmissions rate in Central Massachusetts from 2011-2015. At only 13.7 percent, we faired better than Worcester, Milford and MetroWest facilities and beat the state average of 15.8 percent. The percentages reflect patients who returned to a hospital within 30 days of their first admittance.

It is in that spirit that I thank you for your service and wish you a very happy National Hospital Week.

President and CEO

Do you have an upcoming appointment? CALL FIRST

If you have an upcoming appointment at any Harrington HealthCare System facility and have the following symptoms, fever, or cough, please call your doctor prior to arriving to your appointment.

Our top priority is to protect you, our patients, communities, and healthcare workers.

Current Visitor Policy

For the health and safety of our patients and employees, the following policy is in effect as of Monday, March 30

There will be NO visitors allowed in any inpatient or outpatient services (this includes the Emergency Department, Harrington Physician Services offices, and all other Harrington HealthCare Facilities)

Please note that the Main Lobby at Harrington Hospital in Southbridge will be closed at 7pm. All patients who need to enter the hospital after that time should come in through the ED.

The implementation of this policy is in an effort to limit the spread of potential illnesses that could be harmful to you, our patients, community, and staff. Thank you for your cooperation.

TELEHEALTH Appointments Now Available

To protect your health during the COVID-19 pandemic, certain appointments may now be conducted via TELEHEALTH, a service that allows you to see your doctor from home via a phone call or via a video conference call using your smartphone or computer.

If you are interested in scheduling a TELEHEALTH appointment, please let our office know when you call to make your appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your request if TELEHEALTH is appropriate for the type of care you need.
