Aminadav Zakai, M.D. Named Medical Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services at Harrington HealthCare

 

SOUTHBRIDGE, MA – Aminadav Zakai, MD has been named Medical Director of Outpatient Behavioral Health Services at Harrington HealthCare System (HHS).

Dr. Zakai is Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his medical training at the Technion Medical School in Haifa, Israel. He completed his residency training at Brown University, followed by postdoctoral training in psychological trauma at the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Providence, RI, and the Harvard Psychological Trauma Program at the Erich Lindemann Center at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Prior to joining the Harrington HealthCare team Dr. Zakai was Chief of Psychiatry at High Point Hospital in Middleboro an an assistant professor of Psychiatry at Brown University, where he participated in multiple research projects at the VA with a focus on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

During his 25-year career Dr. Zakai has held variety of other positions including medical director of a busy outpatient program in the Providence VA; chief psychiatrist for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, focusing on the treatment of inmates with gender identity disorder and suicide prevention; medical director of Arbour HRI Hospital in Brookline and Arbour Fuller Hospital, in South Attleboro; medical director for the Cape and the Islands in the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH); and medical director for Taunton State Hospital.
