Harrington HealthCare System Awarded $7,000 from Janet Malser Humanities Trust

WEBSTER, Mass. — Harrington HealthCare System has been awarded a grant of $7,000 from the Janet Malser Humanities Trust.

The grant money will replace chairs and tables in the phlebotomy department at Harrington’s Webster campus.

“Some of the older furniture in our Webster phlebotomy area needed to be replaced,” said Diana Fishwick, supervisor of Harrington phlebotomy services. “We are grateful for the Janet Malser Humanities Trust for offering us this gift so we can create a more pleasant experience for our patients.”

Included in the furniture being ordered are two reclining phlebotomy chairs, which provide extra cushioning and a supported seated position. Each chair also has folding side trays and lockable swivel casters for enhanced patient safety.

Additionally, the grant will help purchase three new chairs and a table for the patient waiting area inside the lab, and two new phlebotomy cabinets.

In 2016, approximately 15,700 patients used the phlebotomy lab at Harrington’s Webster facility.

Janet Malser was a lifelong resident of Dudley and Webster, Mass. She established this trust so that the causes she was involved with would continue to be supported when she was no longer here. She loved art, history, nature, and music.

The Janet Malser Humanities Trust was established in 2009 as a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. Its purpose is to fund educational, cultural, historic and charitable causes in the towns of Dudley, Oxford and Webster. For more information, visit janetmalsertrust.org.
