CHARLTON, Mass. – May 29, 2015 – The Wound Care Center at Harrington, a member of the Healogics network, is participating in the Healogics National Wound Care Awareness Week from June 1 through 6.
One of nearly 600 Healogics managed centers, The Wound Care Center at Harrington, located at 10 North Main Street, in Charlton, was recently recognized as a Wound Care Center of Distinction for exceeding clinical and quality benchmarks for 12 consecutive months.
The center offers advanced therapies to patients suffering from chronic wounds, including diabetic ulcers, post-radiation wounds, vascular ulcers, and burn wounds.
Program directors across the nation will dedicate the week by visiting local physician offices and providing education to staff to help identify patients who may benefit from advanced wound care.
According to Healogics,.chronic wounds affect millions of people in the United States, and the incidence is rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and the late effects of radiation therapy. Untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb.
One in four people with diabetes will develop foot complications, and diabetics are 10 times more likely to have a limb amputated than non-diabetics, according to the Joslin-Beth Israel Deaconess Foot Center.
People with wounds that have not improved with traditional methods of treatment in four weeks may benefit from a visit to The Wound Care Center at Harrington. To schedule an appointment or for more information, please call 508-248-8105 or visit harringtonhos.wpengine.com.
