Rheumatology

Rheumatologists at Harrington deal with disorders affecting joints, muscles, connective tissues, and soft tissues around joints and bones. With more than 200 types of these diseases, it can be challenging to diagnose and treat them. That is why it is so important for patients to be seen by medical experts like ours, who keep up with new research in immunology.

Other rheumatic diseases include: osteoarthritis and many other forms of arthritis, osteoporosis, gout, lupus, back pain, fibromyalgia, tendonitis, and post-traumatic stress disorders. Diagnoses range from simple physical examinations and joint inspections to specialized laboratory tests, imaging, cytology, chemical pathology of fluid aspirated from affected joints, and thyroid tests.

Treatments include analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids, new gene therapy, and physiotherapy. Our rheumatologists may also work with Harrington’s occupational therapists.

At Harrington, we see hundreds of patients with various forms of rheumatism, and no two are exactly alike. For this reason, we provide personal, customized patient care.

Mark Yun M.D., Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, sees patients in our Sturbridge office located at 198 Charlton Road.
