Children’s ID Program Now Part of Lucky Duck Day

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., April 18, 2012 — For the very first time, the Harrington Auxiliarys Lucky Duck Day on Sunday, April 29 will include a Childrens ID program run by the Southbridge Police Department.

Members of the Southbridge Police Department will be on hand to offer the free program to any parent with a child or children at the annual Lucky Duck Day. The officers will take a photograph and get the fingerprints of the child and give those to the parent in a packet where they can fill in the childs name and other data. The information can be useful if theres an emergency involving your child.

“We recommend that parents do this for their children every couple of years, so that they have updated pictures and information,” said Detective Robert Salisbury of the Southbridge Police Department.

This is the 21st consecutive year that the Harrington Hospital Auxiliary has offered Lucky Duck Day, one of the most popular spring events in the region.

The family event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westville Recreation Area in Southbridge, includes a train ride for children and other childrens activities, such as two Moon Walks, Darts, Ball Toss, High Toss, Basketball Shootout and Face Painting.

One highlight of the event is the picking of the Lucky Ducks, from a pool at the Westville Recreation Area by the Lucky Duck, who is blindfolded and is dressed in a duck costume.

The five winning Ducks will be plucked at 3 p.m. following the Sturbridge Lions All American River Race Awards presentation.

A $5 donation will get you one Lucky Duck ticket, a $25 dollar donation pays for a Six Quack and you can get a Whole Flock of thirteen Lucky Duck tickets for $50.
Through your generosity, the Auxiliary has been able to provide financial support to Harrington HealthCare with monies for added equipment and projects for patient comfort and care. In addition we have been able to provide four – $4,000 Scholarships to area students entering a healthcare field.

Individuals can get their ducks in advance at various locations such as Big Bunny Market, Charlton Food Mart, Harrington HealthCare Campus Lobbies, Market Basket in Oxford, Nipmuck Liquors, Park ‘n Shop in Dudley, Savers Bank, Shaws Supermarket, Southbridge Credit Union, Southbridge Savings Bank, Teds Package Store in Charlton City, West Main Liquor in Dudley, Wine Buyers Outlet, and Yankee Spirits or by calling the Lucky Duck line at (508) 765-6473.
