Congressman Neal Tours Webster Campus

WEBSTER, Mass. – August 6, 2010 – Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard welcomed Congressman Richard Neal to its Webster campus Friday, August 6. The Congressman toured the facility with several members of Harrington administration and sat down for a round table discussion.

“We were proud to show Congressman Neal all the positive changes we have made in Webster,” said Ed Moore, Harrington President and CEO. “We have done a tremendous amount in the last 15 months and we are eager to display the improvements and talk about the future.”

The Congressman, accompanied by two legislative aides, toured building with four members of Harrington senior administration. The tour began inside the renovated Harrington physician office suite, home to Drs. Jeffrey Cohen, Afshin Nasseri and Nurse Practitioner Heather Briere. Next month, Harrington welcomes a new Internal Medicine and Rheumatology physician, Dr. Charles Mills, to that practice.

The tour also revealed Websters advanced radiology department, cardiopulmonary services and same-day surgical unit. Harrington administration explained to Congressman Neal the number of improvements and upgrades they have made to the facility since May 2009.

The tour spent considerable time in the Emergency Department area, which Harrington plans to renovate and upgrade in the future. Congressman Neal commented on the importance of a 24/7 emergency facility to the community.

“Its a big deal for the community to identify with the services here,” he said.

Emergency Room Physician Brian dAngona spent several minutes with the Congressman, discussing the wide range of capabilities the department possesses, despite its necessary need for change.

“We do a lot of things very well here,” Dr. dAngona said, highlighting their Stroke Protocol with Mass General Hospital and urgent care patient services. “We want the community to utilize us for their total access of care.”

Dr. dAngona added the campus has wonderful radiology, surgical and laboratory outpatient services, as well as specialty physicians that can consult with patients on obstetrical and orthopedic issues.

In the fall, the Webster ER will be upgraded to an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, which will enhance the technology of the unit, as well as offer real-time connections between the Webster and Southbridge facilities.

Congressman Neal commended Harrington on its efforts, not only in Webster but across the Southern Worcester Country region. He toured the Southbridge campus last year, and attended the new Harrington HealthCare at Charlton Grand Opening in May.

“I was stunned,” he said. “I couldnt believe the things you had done.”
