Harrington Outpatient Scores Soar

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 13, 2011 — Harrington HealthCare Systems outpatient satisfaction scores are soaring, reaching 94.2 (out of a possible 100) for the most recent quarter.

The scores for Harrington HealthCare System, which includes Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard in Webster, and Harrington HealthCare at Charlton, have risen each quarter since the first quarter of 2009, when the score was 89.6.

Like many other healthcare systems nationwide, Harrington uses an independent organization, Press Ganey Inc., to survey patients about their healthcare experience and compile a score based on the surveys.

Patients chosen at random receive a survey in the mail from Press Ganey and are asked to rate various aspects of their visit. This includes issues such as helpfulness of staff, wait time, courtesy, concern for comfort, privacy, etc. Among the Harrington outpatient services that Press Ganey measures are The Cancer Center at Harrington, Laboratory Services, Rehabilitation and Diagnostic Imaging services including Mammography, MRI and Ultrasound.

“Our 94.2 score is the result of hard work by everyone who is involved in Outpatient services — physicians, nurses, clinicians, office staff,” said Kathleen Davis, Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety.
