STURBRIDGE, Mass., August 18, 2014 – Harrington HealthCare System along with St. Anne and St. Patrick Parish Nurse Ministry will sponsor an American Heart Association (AHA) Family & Friends CRP/AED course on Saturday, September 13 at St. Annes Parish in Sturbridge.
Members of the community will learn how to perform Adult Hands-Only CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), as well as how to properly use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Event attendees may choose between three one-hour sessions, starting at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., or 12 p.m.
The cost of entry will be $10 per person, or $25 for a family of three or more. These fees will help cover the cost of supplies for the event. Additionally, a raffle will be held to help fund the purchase of an AED for the St. Annes Parish.
According to the AHA, almost 80 percent of sudden cardiac arrests happen in the home. Ninety-two percent of victims dont survive, often because people around them dont take action by beginning CPR. You can help change this statistic by learning the simple skills of CPR and proper use of an AED.
Those wishing to pre-register or with questions may contact St. Annes Parish at (508) 347-7338, or parish nurse Marianne Martone at (203) 260-4649.
Harrington HealthCare System asks you to Come Learn a Life Saving Skill and support St. Annes Parish.
