In conjunction with our respiratory therapy department, we provide pulmonary function testing and ongoing management of respiratory disorders. Our staff is highly trained and can provide information related to smoking cessation, inhaler use, and nebulizer treatments.
Pulmonary function testing is simply a number of tests that shows how well your lungs work. Results can show how well you’re able to breathe or how effective your lungs are at bringing oxygen into the body.
New at Harrington, our Body Plethysmograph machine, located in our pulmonary and cardiac unit in Southbridge, offers the most advanced pulmonary function testing equipment on the market to accurately test and diagnose lung function, including asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis.

In addition, our pulmonary technologists and staff provide information related to smoking cessation, inhaler use and nebulizer treatments.
For hospitalized patients, we provide acute care, including state-of-the art life support systems in our ICU.
In addition, our specialists work with our sleep center in Webster to interpret studies and consult with patients and physicians on treatments for sleep apnea, including education on at-home sleep study equipment.
